AT & T confirms iPad hit by a hacker attack
The first alarm, based on rumors, was launched from the site Gawker , but now AT & T has officially confirmed: the network iPad was hit by a serious hacker attack.
Head of the exploit, the hacker group Goatse Security , who has cracked the site of AT & T sending HTTP request that includes the serial numbers ICC-IDs (identifiers integrated circuit card) SIM card for iPad.
In practice, the attackers managed to exploit a flaw in the network of AT & T getting the email addresses of about 114 000 owners of the tablet: a very serious leak of private data of many people including prominent figures such as Michael Bloomberg, mayor of New York, Rahm Emanuel, the White House chief of staff, or Janet Robinson, CEO of the New York Times.
"The issue was addressed at the highest levels and was resolved within the day on Tuesday - AT & T has secured in a statement - we have essentially stopped the function that provides the email addresses.
In any case, the image damage to the telephone operator, which owns the exclusive U.S. on Apple products, has been huge, and the company is now under indictment for failing to adequately protect the security and privacy.
